My design beat out Whitney Smith's
but only because some of the members
didn't think a half-naked indian maiden on
an armidillo was "proper!" I still think
his design is better than mine!

PROPOSED SURINAM FLAG
Back in the 70's sometime, when Surinam
was on the road to independence, they were
looking for flag designs. I took their former
flag and merged the five different colored
stars into one.
THE PAIN FLAG
A few years ago, I suffered from kidney stones,
which are very painful.
During one particularly excruciating attack,
I tried to occupy my mind with vexillography.
Although it was not completely successful,
I was able to better manage the pain until
some medication took over by designing this flag.
It represents the pain of a kidney stone attack
(of course!). I didn't know until later that the stone
was large and very angularly sharp, not unlike the
symbol I used in the design!
